Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is an annual program where people come together across the country to draw attention to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Join MPPC as we seek to shine a light on these critical issues that affect so many in our community.

November 14, 9:30 a.m., Circle Drive
As longtime leaders in the fight against hunger, Loaves and Fishes | Friendship Trays is dedicated to improving overall access to and distribution of nutritious food and groceries for those in need in Mecklenburg County. Come hear from Tina Postel as she discusses all of the faces and phases of food insecurity in Charlotte.
Food Drive to Support Loaves & Fishes |Friendship Trays
November 14 – 21
Mission Kids is hosting a food drive to support Loaves and Fishes | Friendship Trays. The following items are needed: canned meats, canned fruits, canned or dry boxed pasta, low sodium canned vegetables, and peanut butter (no glass!). Please drop off all items in the Welcome Center bins.

Supportive Housing Community’s McCreesh Place and St. John’s Place provide affordable housing and support services to chronically homeless individuals and families living with disabilities. Volunteers are needed to deliver a meal, organize the library and supply closet, decorate bulletin boards, and more! | Sign up
Facebook Live: Be A Witness
November 16, 7:30 p.m.
Join us for a special, 30 minute Facebook Live event where MPPC’s Director of CROSS Missions Erika Funk will share facts and stories of hunger and homelessness in Charlotte, as well as tangible ways you can become a witness for food security and housing in our community.

Roof Above was born from the merger of Urban Ministry Center and Men’s Shelter of Charlotte, now one comprehensive homeless services provider working to end homelessness. Come hear from Liz Clasen-Kelly as she shares how home is critical to providing safety, stability, and dignity in people’s lives, and how a caring community can make a difference in the lives of our neighbors experiencing homelessness.
