Ministry Partners
Charlotte Prayer Room is a fueling station for the city’s spiritually hungry and serves as a resource for churches. They use creative & culturally relevant means to instigate movements of prayer, mission, & justice. CROSS groups will visit the Charlotte Prayer Room to engage with the prayer stations and have a conversation about prayer with a staff member.
Baby Bundles seeks to provide newborn essentials to families in financial need in the Charlotte area, helping them get a positive start with their baby. CROSS groups will sort clothing and baby items in the warehouse.
Beds for Kids seeks to provide a bed and other essential furniture to every child and family in need in Charlotte. CROSS groups will assist in the warehouse, sorting, cleaning, and assembling furniture.
BellExcel is a nonprofit organization that partners with schools and community organizations to expand learning time for students in grades K-9. Its mission is to transform the academic achievements, self-confidence, and life trajectories of children living in under-resourced communities. CROSS serves at First Presbyterian Church’s summer program.
Bright Blessings partners with over 30 local agencies and school districts to provide birthday parties, baby showers, and hygiene kits to children and families living in poverty. CROSS groups will sort, bundle, and wrap donations.
The Bulb Garden provides mostly local produce as well as education on health and wellness to food-insecure neighborhoods. CROSS groups will plant, weed, and harvest throughout the summer.
Changed Choices provides a range of support services to female inmates in local, state, and federal systems. Inmates who continue a relationship throughout their incarceration with Changed Choices will be offered additional support upon release while facing the extraordinary challenges of transition. CROSS groups will help with yard work and write cards to women who are in the program who are incarcerated.
Charlotte Rescue Mission provides residential drug and alcohol recovery services at no cost for men who would not otherwise be able to afford such services. The 90-day residential program houses 120 men in a facility in uptown Charlotte. CROSS groups will prepare, serve, and eat lunch with Rebound residents.
Classroom Central empowers students and teachers by providing supplies and resources through their Free Store, Mobile Free Store, and several other community-supported programs. CROSS groups will be making flashcards and notes for elementary students or sorting supplies at the donation center.
Crisis Assistance Ministry is a wide-reaching ministry that provides rent assistance, medical aid and referrals, free furniture, and clothing. CROSS groups will help with sorting, folding, and hanging clothes for the store which is free for CAM’s clients.
Diaper Bank seeks to ensure that families with babies and children living with poverty have an adequate supply of diapers. CROSS groups will work in the warehouse, sorting and bundling diapers for families.
Friendship Trays prepares and delivers food to impoverished and home-bound community members. CROSS groups will deliver a route of meals.
Hope Haven is a Therapeutic Community that provides a foundation of recovery for individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder, so they can build healthy and independent lives. CROSS groups will serve on the Hope Haven campus in various ways throughout the summer.
Innovation Barn is a combination of entrepreneurial businesses, zero-waste initiatives, and a space to convene groups in order to learn more about and implement circular projects. CROSS groups will learn about Circular Economy and aid in the recycling process.
Hospitality House is a non-profit service that enables families to stay close to their loved ones in the hospital without the emotional or financial stress of finding suitable lodging or making long commutes. They provide a comfortable bed, hot meals, and a quiet place to relax. CROSS groups will assist in maintenance to facility/grounds.
MedAssist is a non-profit pharmacy program providing access to lifesaving prescription medications, client support, advocacy, and other services to poor, vulnerable, and uninsured North Carolina residents. CROSS groups will sort medications.
Moore Place (Roof Above) is a Housing First community that recognizes a fundamental right to housing, no matter what a person’s mental health condition, physical disability, or addiction may be. The idea is to get people into housing first, and then work on the issues that need attention in order to help the person stay housed. Moore Place serves 85 formerly homeless individuals. CROSS groups will share social time with residents, including playing board games or doing arts and crafts.
Project 658 is a Christ-centered ministry providing services for at-risk families in Charlotte, moving them toward sustainability, with a key focus on the international and refugee communities. CROSS groups play games and eat lunch with children in the summer camp program.
Day Services Center (Roof Above) serves both individuals who are currently or formerly experiencing homelessness through their soup kitchen, emergency shelter, substance use treatment program, and permanent supportive housing. CROSS groups will participate in an educational simulation and make sandwiches for the Operation Sandwich program.
RunningWorks is a non-profit running program designed to encourage neighbors experiencing homelessness to rediscover the power of teamwork, discipline, confidence, and respect for each other one stride at a time. CROSS groups will run or walk a 5k loop around Charlotte with neighbors and then discuss and debrief their experience and learning as an entire running team following the run.
Samaritan’s Feet provides shoes to children and adults in the U.S. and around the world. CROSS groups will spend time within the warehouse preparing shoes for shipment.
Trips for Kids provides bicycles and educational resources to underserved youth through their Earn-A-Bike program, Ride program, and their Community Bike Shop. CROSS groups will learn to patch a bike tire and spend time cleaning and quality-checking donated bicycles.
