Baptisms

at Myers Park Pres

Partner with us to help your child grow in faith. As a church, we live out the baptismal covenant, encouraging and equipping individuals & families to grow in Christ together.

Do we have to be members?

Yes, the Presbyterian Church requires that at least one of the parents or guardians of the child must be a member of MPPC. Or, if you are an active member elsewhere, you can ask that Session to write a letter requesting Myers Park Pres do the baptism on their behalf.

Is there a required class?

If this is your first child baptized at MPPC, you are required to take a Baptism Class, which is offered once a month in-person or via Teams. Both parents are encouraged to attend, along with their kiddos. Scroll down for the class schedule.

Can we schedule a private baptism?

No, private baptisms are not allowed within the Presbyterian Church. The only exceptions to this are very unique circumstances, such as the child having a serious illness.
