Journey | May 2020
Friends,
This past Sunday, Millie offered a powerful sermon about what it means to wait for God. According to the passage from Acts 1, the apostles ask Jesus when he will “restore the kingdom to Israel.” As Millie pointed out, their desire to “restore the kingdom” represents a wish to return to the way things used to be. But Jesus is calling them forward, to look to the horizon for the coming of a new day. Indeed, the power of Easter is not resuscitation, not a return to what was, but resurrection, a transformation into what will be.
Times like these require the best of us as disciples, and by God’s grace, we are rising to the demands of these days.
