Kids Serve

Why We Serve

Here at Myers Park Presbyterian, we believe children learn discipleship as they grow in faith, and share in ministry from their earliest years. We seek to provide meaningful, age-appropriate ministry opportunities for your children and the whole family.

The learning continuum includes Sprout Outreach, our ministry for families with children ages 3-3rd grade, where the whole family serves together; Mission Kids activities for our fourth- and fifth-grade children and families; local and global service projects for all ages during Vacation Bible School; and Family Promise, Room in the Inn, and other activities during the school year.

Mission Kids

Encourage your children to get their hands in the mud of missions as they learn tangible ways to show compassion to others.

Our Mission Kids program for fourth- and fifth-graders takes place throughout the school year and includes serving our church family as well as the greater Charlotte community. We also include parents and other siblings for special Mission Kids Family Outreach events.

Sprout Outreach

Take part in this ministry, designed for families with children ages three through third-grade. We gather for projects to do as a family, using our hands and hearts to share God’s love with others. We’ve made beds for Room in the Inn, craft kits for children at Levine Children’s Hospital, place mats for Friendship Trays, care kits for the Men’s Shelter, and more. Join us for our next event.

Family Mission

Serve as a family and model what it means to share Christ’s love. Opportunities include:

  • Sprout Outreach: Join this group of young families with children ages 3-third grade as we explore serving as a family.
  • Family Mission Projects: Circle 4 Friends in Faith, Commissioned, and other groups periodically sponsor family mission opportunities you can attend with your child. Check out opportunities to serve as a family listed in the weekly Sunday Serve & Grow or Connect emails.
  • Room in the Inn: Join us on Thursdays in the outreach center from December through March for Room in the Inn as we open our doors to the homeless men, women and children of Charlotte. Opportunities include setting up beds, preparing and serving meals, helping with a program, and leading devotions. Look on our calendar under outreach for specific dates and times.
  • Mission Kids Family Outreach: Fourth and Fifth graders and their families, parents and siblings, are invited to take part in our Mission Kids Family Outreach events, scheduled throughout the year.

Fred the Mission Monkey weighs less than eight ounces. His soft fur and curly tail are his most distinctive attributes. Some might say he’s a bit stuffy. But children find he is a great partner in mission.

Fred has helped wash windows and visit nursing home residents, and served alongside our Mission Kids. Fred has also accompanied mission teams to Malawi, El Salvador, Congo, Cuba and Hungary.
