Not only is there an unnecessary loss of lives there is a tremendous loss of healthcare dollars. In 2010 the US spent over 18% of the GDP on healthcare. That is more that national defense, homeland security, education and welfare… combined! The good news is most of these death and financial losses are preventable and related to lifestyle factors, especially diet.
