Our November BookIt selection is Confessions, by Kanae Minato.
Minato was a home economics teacher and housewife in Japan before she wrote this debut novel. The novel has won all sorts of awards and was made into a movie (a nominee for best foreign language film at the 2010 Oscars). This book is dark and disturbing. Do you find any of the characters sympathetic? Do you think that the author tries to portray any of the characters as products of their upbringing or are they totally responsible for their behaviors?
I hope you can join us on November 9 at 12:30 at Myers Park Presbyterian Church to discuss the book. If you can’t attend, join the conversation by offering a comment here.
