How Love Builds Up

Myers Park Presbyterian’s relationship with Cuba began in the early 2000s and continues today through our Cuba Ministry Team as well as MPPC’s Youth. Over the years, we’ve been blessed to travel to Cuba for in-person fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and to have multiple opportunities to host several of our Cuban ministry partners here in Charlotte. This is a partnership that invites us to deepen our faith and our connections with one another.

Partnership Highlights
  • Pastor Dora Arce Valentin was the 2006 “Theologian in Residence” at MPPC. She stayed with us for 3 weeks and invited MPPC to visit Cuba.
  • As of 2021, nine adult teams from MPPC have visited Cuba and MPPC’s Youth have traveled to Cuba four times.
  • MPPC provides ongoing support of SET including, funding scholarships, program development, library acquisitions, and administration and faculty needs.
  • MPPC members are involved annually in the Cuba Partners Network conference.
  • MPPC’s Deeper Discipleship Campaign provided funds to restore the 100-year-old church in Remedios, including it’s pastor’s quarters, sanctuary roof and walls, education/meeting room, kitchen, and overnight accommodations.
